frequently asked questions
Do you take reservations?
We don’t take reservations per se, but we do offer tickets to our tasting room through Tock (http://columbiaroom.tocktix.com). We offer a three and five course menu of cocktails paired with snacks. Our current menu can be found through the links above. We suggest the five course menu; we'll take great care of you.
The Spirits Library has open seating for parties of six or less. We can accommodate groups larger than six in the Punch Garden; any inquiries about larger parties can be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org, and there is information about private events on our website.
Where are you located?
We’re in Blagden Alley off of 9th street between N and M. The address is 124 Blagden Alley, NW. You must enter the alley and we are located right next to the Dabney. Here is a map.
What is the closest metro?
Do you offer valet parking?
Can we be honest? We discourage driving here. But if you have a designated driver there’s ample metered parking around the alley on 7th and 9th Streets and on N and M Streets. If you’re from out of town, try Uber or Lyft.
Are you affiliated with Pop-Up Bar?
Do you take walk-ins in the Tasting Room?
If we have space, of course. Inquire with one of our managers or bartenders about availability.
Do you serve à la carte drinks in the Tasting Room?
If we have availability, we are happy to find you a space in the Tasting Room and can serve a limited selection of drinks à la carte. If you already have a reservation, please let us know in advance. Otherwise, some drinks may not be available.
Do you need reservations in the Punch Garden and Spirits Library?
Nope. Those are only suggested for the Tasting Room.
PLEASE NOTE: Occasionally we have special groups, private parties or tastings and may reserve seats in the Punch Garden and/or Spirits Library. This is rare but does happen from time to time. Please contact us if you are worried about availability of seats and we will let you know if we expect any parties that night.
What about private parties?
We love private parties. Contact us at email@example.com. We have space for up to 40 people and options for smaller parties as well.
What should I wear?
Why not dress to the nines? But we only require that you wear shoes and are reasonably covered.
How substantial are your paired snacks with the tasting menu?
This depends entirely on the person, but our menu is the equivalent of three appetizers. Think cocktail party not dinner party. This is perfect for some people and not enough for others. We offer additional food upon request.
Can I request different drinks in the tasting room?
We will make exceptions for dietary concerns and guests who call and make their case with our meanest bartender, who is really pretty nice :). Please call 48 hours in advance. Otherwise, we may not be able to accommodate changes.
Can you accommodate dietary restrictions or food preferences?
Yes. Well, that’s it. Just “yes,” but please give us 48 hours notice or we may not be able to accommodate changes.
Can you accommodate non-drinkers?
Yes! People who don't drink alcohol still have the right to delicious things.
Do you have to be 21 or older to enter the bar?
Yes, unless it’s a really cute baby. Then we will require pictures too. Same goes for kittens and puppies. But, really, your kid (or pet) is going to hate it here. It’s adults acting like adults and only sometimes like children or animals.
Are you accessible to people with disabilities?
Yes, please let us know any access issues in advance for your reservation if you can or tell the door person. We have an elevator, ramps and an access-positive attitude toward our colleagues, friends and family with disabilities.
How do you get to work here?
Luck, I guess. And luck is always better paired with perseverance. Check out Drink Company, our parent company, for job openings www.drinkcompany.com.
Do you offer stages?
Yes, if you’re willing to work with us to find the time and right situation. We do this on a case-by-case basis. Send us an email.
What is the right music to get in the mood before coming to the Columbia Room?
